Connie serves imaginary Li breakfast in the apartment and tells him about her deal with Bobby: she’ll take care of his romantic rival if he keeps quiet about seeing her the night of Li’s murder. Imaginary Li asks if she’s going to murder Rafe like she murdered him. She dismisses that as an act of passion. It wasn’t her fault.
Connie flashes back to showing up at Li’s apartment months after their Small Bar date. Wearing a sparkly gown and long white gloves, she explains her ballroom dancing partner canceled on her. Since Li’s apartment is on the way to the studio, she thought she’d stop by to see if he’d like to go to the lesson with her. Having a bad day, a scruffy Li tries to get rid of her, but she pushes her way inside the apartment. She bemoans how many first dates she’s had with clueless Neanderthals, but Li really listened to her. She hasn’t been able to stop thinking about him. Now that he’s done with Melinda, she thought they could pick up where they left off.
In the present, Connie says if Li had said yes to her, things would have been different.
In the DiMera living room, Kristen gives Ava her contract. She’ll be in charge of recruiting new assets for DiMera. Ava is happy with that job, but wants to get out of there ASAP for fear of running into Gabi. “Since I slept with her husband,” she whispers.
Waking up in bed, Gabi paws at a sleeping Stefan. With his eyes still closed, he grins, wondering if he’s dreaming. When he fully wakes up, he tells her to stop. He’s still angry about the press conference. Gabi thought that after months of abstinence, he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off her. She gets out of bed in a huff.
At the townhouse, Rafe asks Marlena if she thinks Bobby truly knows anything about Li’s murder. She acknowledges he could be playing Jada, but she doesn’t believe he’s dangerous. She explains that someone with mental illness is far more likely to be the victim of a crime than the perpetrator of one. Regardless, Rafe doesn’t like Jada being alone with him.
At Bayview, Jada presses Bobby for information about Li. He flashes back to Connie’s visit. His expression tenses, and his eyes rapidly blink. He winces, holding his head. When he stops yelping in pain, he looks up at Jada with a stricken expression. “Why are you calling me Bobby? I’m Everett.” He looks around, confused, wondering where he is. Jada runs off to get someone.
In flashback, Connie reveals to Li she knows he’s been seeing a therapist and offers to heal him. He accuses her of stalking him. She calls it caring for him. He angrily tells her to leave. When she won’t, he turns to call the police. She picks up a knife and stabs him in the back. Panicking, she decides it’s not her fault because Gabi putting him through hell (with Melinda piling on) is the reason he rejected her. Gabi needs to see what she’s done and texts her from Li’s phone. Saying goodbye to Li, Connie says they couldn’t be together in life, but in death, Li will forever be hers. She starts to leave as someone knocks on the door. She hides as Gil enters, looking for Ava. He gasps upon seeing Li’s body. The black book falls from his hand.
At the DiMera mansion, Kristen tells Ava to keep her mouth shut about sleeping with Stefan, as Gabi enters. Kristen takes a call, leaving an anxious Ava alone with Gabi. Gabi expresses gratitude for the sacrifices Ava made to help keep her safe. She’s happy Stefan didn’t have to go through it alone. Stefan warily joins them, and Gabi leaves. “What the hell was that about,” Stefan demands from Ava.
Kristen returns to fill Stefan in on hiring Ava. She gleefully taunts an unamused Stefan, Ava signs her contract, and Kristen leaves to take another call. Stefan worries Kristen or Harris will tell Gabi about them sleeping together. Ava assures him that Kristen likes her and Harris left Salem. So, not to worry.
After Jada returns to Everett at Bayview, Marlena arrives. She recognizes him as Everett, who tears up. They explain how Bobby took over, but Everett says he’s back and would really like to get out of there. Marlena is delighted by his breakthrough, but thinks he should stay a few more days. Everett is committed to healing, but he has a job and relationship to get back to. He wants to feel in control again. Marlena doesn’t believe he is a danger to others and agrees to sign his release.
When Gabi meets Rafe at the Pub, he tells her about Bobby’s claims regarding Li’s murder. He assures her it won’t affect her release and urges her to focus on getting her life back. He then tells her there’s a slight chance Abigail is alive.
At the apartment, Connie recounts that she wanted Gabi to get caught standing over Li’s body. She worried Gil was going to ruin her plan. In flashback, Gil crouches down to feel Li’s neck. He detects a weak pulse, but doesn’t need this kind of trouble. He picks the black book off the floor and leaves. In the present, Connie says if Gil called an ambulance Li might still be alive. And she might have gotten away with everything if not for that pesky Bobby Stein.
At Bayview, Everett thanks Marlena for everything she’s done. She leaves and Everett thanks Jada as well. She asks if he remembers talking to her about Li Shin. He reacts with confusion. She tells him to focus on getting well and leaves. Everett’s earnest expression turns wry as he recalls Connie offering him the deal. “Sounds like a plan,” a smirking Bobby says in the present.
Alone with her brother, Kristen assures Stefan she has no reason to rat him out to Gabi. Even if she did, she wouldn’t do that to Ava, who feels really bad about what they did. Ava wants to stay as far away from him and Gabi as possible.
After Rafe’s left, Ava comes to the Pub. Gabi approaches to propose bringing Gabi Chic into the DiMera fold. “What do you think about working together?”
Outside the Pub, Jada says she trusts Marlena’s judgment and hopes Everett is ready to be on his own. Marlena explains he no longer meets the criteria for an involuntary hold so he can do whatever he wants. Jada’s happy Everett is back, but now they may never know who really killed Li.
Alone at the Salem Inn, Bobby says that he faked letting Everett out to keep Connie’s secret. Now, Connie better do her part and get Rafe out of his way.
At the cemetery, Rafe talks to Paulina on the phone about having someone fill in the hole. He chuckles that an empty grave can be dangerous. Connie comes up behind Rafe with a knife. She takes a swing at him. Rafe grimaces and groans as he goes down.
