Our final weeks of Arianne Zucker’s Nicole on Days of Our Lives are finally here, as the actress is set to exit the sudser at the end of the month. But that’s not the only countdown we’ve got, as the truth about Jude being Eric’s son is bound to come out before her exit — and it may even be sooner than we think!
The walls are, without a doubt, closing in on EJ. As Holly just told Eric, EJ and Nicole’s marriage has just about reached its expiration date. Those two never last, and now that EJ’s done his best to bury the truth about Jude, we’re pretty sure he’s bumped up that expiration date by a whole lot!
More: A controversial addition finally gets cut
He may have shut Melinda up for now — provided Kristen gives her that job — but she’s not the only one who knows who Jude’s dad is. Stefan does as well, and while EJ may have narrowly avoided disaster from his brother and the former DA, if we know Stefan, it won’t be long before he tells Gabi.
And once she knows… Well, EJ may have reluctantly gotten her out of prison, but that doesn’t mean any love has grown between the two in-laws. Now that she’s home, we have a feeling the truth is going to spill out just about any day now. And it doesn’t even have to be for meanspirited reasons!
Heck, maybe Gabi will tell Nicole the truth, not out of malice towards EJ, but in a genuine attempt to do the right thing. She’s a parent who knows all too well how heartbreaking it is to be separated from her child. Knowing how much Eric is suffering, she could very well want to do something to help him.
Or the truth could come from Leo, who’s making a genuine attempt to take therapy seriously, turn his life around and be a better person. If he ever works out the truth about Jude and Eric, he could once again go running to the tot’s real parents and try to tell them. And this time, they may even be willing to listen!
The point is, there’s only so long EJ can keep playing this game of whack-a-mole with the truth, and it’s quickly looking like he may be just about of moves. One more crisis, and that’s it. He loses Jude, Nicole, his family — and if folks find out he covered Jude’s paternity up, he could even lose his job! Again.
