In Marlena’s office, Eric shares that Holly knows he killed her father. He laments Holly’s hurt and fury over them not telling her the truth sooner. Eric also explains that Jude has a head cold, and Nicole doesn’t want to put him on a plane, which is why she’s not there to see her daughter. Marlena advises Eric not to suffer along with Holly. He has to be strong and explain that he did what he thought was best in the moment. Let Holly know he loves her, and then give it time. She knows Holly will come back to him.
At the school lockers, Holly looks at a photo of Daniel on her phone when Nicole calls. Holly tells her mother she has nothing to say and hangs up. Tate approaches and tries to convince her to talk to her mother, but she refuses. She also doesn’t believe Eric planned on telling her the truth before she called him out. Tate wishes he had kept his mouth shut. Holly assures him it’s not his fault. She knows he didn’t mean to hurt her. Tate was going to call her last night, but he got distracted when his dad came home after EJ dropped the charges. Holly can’t believe Brady will get away with what he did to her Aunt Sarah. As she rants, Tate wonders if she’s taking her anger at Eric out on Brady. Fuming, she takes off, ditching last period.
Upon putting Victoria down for a nap after her birthday party, Xander joins Sarah in their room. Rubbing her shoulders, he reminds her of her hypnosis appointment. Her remembering that Brady was driving the car is the only way to put him away. When Maggie enters, Xander leaves to have the car brought around. Maggie wonders if Sarah wants Brady to pay as much as Xander does. Sarah wants to go through with the hypnosis, but not to ID Brady. She needs to know what happened that night.
Amid the party decorations in the Kiriakis living room, Fiona sips from a paper cup as she talks to Victor’s portrait. She wonders how she’s supposed to stop everyone from finding out she was the one driving and that Brady’s an innocent man. Brady glumly enters. He wants to see Sarah, but Fiona doesn’t think that’s a good idea. She’s too fragile, and it’d be triggering to see the man who ran her down. Plus, Xander is furious with him. Xander enters.
Brady tells Xander he wants to apologize to Sarah. “Are you out of your mind?” Xander scowls. He warns that Sarah is going to hypnosis to remember that night. And as soon as that happens, EJ will have no choice but to nail Brady’s sorry ass to the wall. With Maggie behind her, Sarah enters in her wheelchair. Brady tells them how sorry he is. He’s not expecting forgiveness. In fact, he won’t ever forgive himself. He doesn’t remember driving, but he’ll never be able to express the shame he feels.
Maggie appreciates Brady’s sentiment and she’s in no position to judge, but she’s heartbroken that he didn’t come to her for help. He’s ashamed he didn’t call her when he relapsed. Sarah silently regards Brady, who doesn’t expect anything from her. He just wanted to tell her how sorry he is. Xander angrily interrupts to take Sarah to her appointment. As everyone else files out, Brady stifles a sob.
EJ summons Kristen to his office. If he couldn’t send Brady to prison, he’ll send her instead — for disappearing Brady’s car. A police officer overheard Brady telling John that she got rid of it to protect him from prosecution. However, EJ won’t charge her if she testifies against Brady. Kristen calls it hearsay. If it were admissible in court, EJ would be using it. She refuses EJ’s continued appeals to testify because it would destroy her daughter. EJ counters that she’s protecting Brady, not for Rachel, but because she’s still in love with him.
In the school hallway, Tate stops Eric, who races past him near the lockers. Eric is looking for Holly. Tate relays how upset she is about Brady going free, but he doesn’t know where she went.
EJ finds Holly in his office. She heard he let Brady go. He apologizes, but he didn’t have the evidence to prosecute him. “What if I help you find some,” she says.
Kristen finds Brady at Basic Black. She warns that EJ is determined to prove he was the one driving the car.
A stressed Fiona waits with Xander in the hospital lobby while Sarah meets with Marlena. “I need to know who was behind that wheel,” Sarah says. “I need to know who hit me.”
