Days of Our Lives two big stories started wrapping up this week as Fiona and “Abigail” were both exposed, giving us some phenomenal performances. So what’s next? Well, let’s dive in — and get into some of the biggest twists!

Oh, No

I had a whole section ready to go about Abigail, and then I saw the news where AnnaLynne McCord reveals who she really is. And… it’s what a whole lot of fans suspected/feared. She’s Konstantin’s granddaughter, Cat. John did not kill Catherina, and she ended up in Salem and, I guess, had four kids. The Greenes are all Meleounises.

Fake Abigail stands protectively in front of Chad as Mark aims a gun. Steve raises a candlestick behind Mark

That’s great news for John, but also kind of tragic, since we’ll never get to see it play out onscreen since Drake Hogestyn has passed. But also… Konstantin’s dead and gone. Folks hated him and there’s also been a whole lot of frustration to tease Abigail’s return only to yank it away.

Tying Fake Abigail/Cat to Konstantin, someone who’s dead and gone and was despised, just gave AnnaLynne McCord even more of an uphill battle to win fans over. But I think we may be surprised at the real Cat. You can see what McCord said about her here. Either way, the fallout from this will be playing out for a little while and Cat’s not going anywhere. And we’re likely going to meet Catherina now.

I’m just still confused about why she got plastic surgery to look not like Abigail. Was it just to keep Aaron and Felicity in the dark? Because they still haven’t mentioned a sister. I thought Felicity was going to go there this week, and instead she told Mark that “Abigail” reminded her of their mom. Make it make sense when you wrap up this ruse on Monday, Days.

Downward Spiral

So they aren’t actually putting Chanel and Alex together — which is a nice change from what I assumed — but are just making Johnny lose his mind over jealousy. And fast. We went from everything’s fine to, “You cheating bitch,” in a blink of an eye. Please don’t make Johnny the next monstrous DiMera. There are allowed to be decent people in that family. And while I’ve been wanting something more exciting for him to do, there’s got to be something without turning him into another Stefano.

Johnny's nightmare Days

Then again, if I had to deal with Body and Soul every day, I might turn into a monster, too. Unfortunately, looking ahead to spoilers, it looks like that may come to pass sooner, rather than later. Because with the two major storylines wrapped this week, we’re diving into B&S

Beyond Redemption

The Xander/Fiona fallout was heartbreaking — but mostly just from Xander’s perspective. He was shattered to learn the truth. I wanted to feel for Fiona. I could tell she was desperate and scared and felt like she had nothing in her life but her son. But her trying to murder Sarah again by pushing her down the stairs in her wheelchair was chilling.

Take your, “I know myself and I wouldn’t have done it,” and shove it, Fiona. They really just went all in on making her the villain by the end there. And that just ruined my sympathy and even my wanting to have sympathy.

Fiona tries to kill Sarah Days

If she’d broken down when confronted by Sarah, admitted it, maybe tried pleading with her without trying to kill her, I think she still could have been saved as a character. But watching Sarah helpless, desperately trying to stop her wheelchair as Fiona told her to shut up and that this was for the best — I can’t. Damn it, Days of Our Lives.

I realize how odd it is to feel this way since Xander literally was about to murder Brady, but we’ve had the chance to get to know and get attached to him. (With that said, Maggie’s “Oh, Xander, how could you try to kill Brady! But it’s OK, I’ll never hate you,” was a bit absurd.) But the point is we never really knew Fiona before any of this happened.

Still, getting the Brady/Fiona confrontation was great as he seethed through the prison bars and she sobbed, begging for forgiveness. Serena Scott Thomas has been a fantastic addition, handicapped character or not. And Sarah comforting Xander through his tears, telling him none of this was his fault, that he was the one Fiona hurt was the way a healthy couple should support each other. And then Xander vowed to make Fiona pay. Which is less healthy. But he’s still Xander. And on that note: If he could become a beloved character, maybe Fiona can pull off a miracle someday.

In the Kiriakis living room, a scowling Xander leans toward Fiona

I’m not sure how much longer she’ll be sticking around, though. Up next for the family? The battle over Titan we were promised in the Fall Preview. And seeing as how Xander’s about to give the company to Kristen in spoilers, I’d venture a guess that’s going to kick it all off.

Stray Thoughts…

A scowling Brady leans his head against a jail cell bar.

  • Oh, hey, we got a view of the jail again! Why don’t they have more convos there instead of holding audience in the SPD interrogation room?
  • It’s been a while since high school. Do teens jump from one person to the next this fast, or is that more a Salem thing? Tate was obsessed with Holly and now he’s already on the Sophia train.
  • Stephen Nichols’ delivery of, “You’re my mommy,” to Kayla after the phony DNA test had me cracking up.
