Portia’s worst fear has come to pass on General Hospital. In the soap’s October 22 episode, Heather’s sentence was vacated: The Hook Killer is going free!
On one hand, that should be no cause for alarm. Cobalt poisoning, which has since been resolved, is what prompted Scotty’s old flame to go on the murderous rampage that claimed the lives of Britt, Trina’s boyfriend Rory, Sasha’s husband Brando and more.
But on the other, Heather was a menace to society long before her hip replacement. Longtime fans will recall that she sold her own baby on the black market, gave away one of cousin Susan’s twins, murdered Ross Duncan and Maggie Wurth, and tried to send Edward Quartermaine to an early grave.
So if Heather’s not going to continue serving time for her crimes as The Hook Killer, there are an awful lot of others that should keep her behind bars for a dozen lifetimes.
What will Franco and Esme’s mother do as a free woman, anyway? It’s not like Terry’s gonna hire her to be a candy striper. She’ll be persona non grata in Port Charles. Maybe that’s why son Steve is set to return to the scene. Perhaps he’ll take pity on Heather and spirit her away to a new life someplace where she isn’t quite so notorious.
