At the cliff house, Steffy and Finn discuss the kids being gone on a sleepover. He grabs a bottle of wine and glasses as Steffy recaps Tom and Hollis dying from the same drug and Baker taking Sheila in for questioning. She says, “Sheila was really surprised. She thought that you were going to defend her.” Finn has made a lot of allowances for her actions, but no more. Steffy kisses him for standing up for her and their family.
At Forrester, Hope tells Ridge and Brooke she can’t figure out why Sheila would want Tom or Hollis dead. Exasperated, Ridge says it could be anything. He thinks Deacon should get on the phone with a divorce lawyer and get rid of that mess he’s in. “What’s he thinking? Why would he marry that woman?!” He notes that at least Finn was smart enough to walk away from it. He reports that, according to Steffy, her husband was defending his wife and kids in front of Sheila. Not all is lost. “It’s a step in the right direction.”
Brooke asks if they found more evidence that points to Sheila. Ridge says not yet, but the toxicology report is damaging. A psycho nurse could have administered the drugs. He’s pleased that Finn has figured it out and can now be the husband and father Steffy needs him to be.
At the cliff house, Finn worries that too many times, he left Steffy feeling unheard. She clucks that he was there for her when it mattered. “You stood up for us, and I love you so much for it.” They kiss and canoodle.
At Forrester, Ridge complains that Finn should have pushed Sheila away a long time ago. Hope chirps, “She is his birth mother.” Ridge says Li is his mother, and Brooke remarks on how Sheila steps over lines… especially where Finn is concerned. Ridge says Steffy could see what Sheila was doing and Finn needed to see it as well. Hope snips that Steffy shouldn’t have to question his commitment to the family. She’s very lucky to be married to a man like Finn! Brooke looks unnerved.
At the cliff house, Steffy questions how Deacon could love a woman like Sheila. Finn thinks he could lose everything he’s worked for. He wonders why Sheila would go after Tom and Hollis. Steffy sighs. Finn knows that everywhere Sheila goes bad things happen. It would be irresponsible to take her word for it that she had nothing to do with the deaths. Whatever the cops find out, Steffy and the kids will always be his priority.
At Forrester, Ridge takes off for a meeting with the mayor. Hope worries she should go check on her dad, but Brooke urges her to let things settle down. She says he’s probably at the police station cheerleading for Sheila anyway. Brooke asks how Hope is doing. Hope knows she means now that Thomas has left again with Douglas. She misses him terribly, but Thomas promised to prioritize their relationship. She insists she’s come to terms with Thomas and Paris’ engagement and gave them her blessing. It’s not easy to accept, but maybe he’s right and they were never meant to be. Brooke asks, “Who’s right? Thomas?” Hope replies, “No… Finn.”
Hope says Finn told her she can do better than Thomas, as Brooke once told her as well. Right now, Brooke isn’t concerned about Thomas, she’s concerned about her feelings for Thomas. “He’s happily married.” Hope says, “According to Steffy.” Brooke sighs, “According to Finn.” They have a family too. Hope is aware. “Is Finn not allowed to have friends?” It is through their friendship that she’s come to realize she deserves a good man who is just for her. Brooke smiles, “Yes. And that man won’t be Finn.” Hope muses that if Finn had an identical twin brother she wouldn’t complain. She’s always been at odds with Steffy and doesn’t want that to negatively affect her relationship with Finn.
At the cliff house, Steffy tells Finn he did the right thing. They go over all the things Sheila has done. Finn thinks they have better things to do than to talk about this. He grunts about her being the sexiest wife in the world and suggests, “No more talk. Let’s get you out of those clothes.” They kiss passionately, Finn lights candles, and Steffy appears in a negligee and robe. They make out and end up making love on the sofa.
At Forrester, Brooke reiterates to Hope that Finn is off-limits. She wants to make sure that she doesn’t make the same mistakes she’s made. “I know you said you don’t want to.” Hope’s sorry if she offended her with that. Brooke just knows that Hope is vulnerable right now. Hope says Finn is important to her as a friend and has been incredibly supportive to her. She’s come to admire him as a man… in many ways. Brooke narrows her eyes in concern.
At the cliff house after sex, Steffy and Finn agree they needed that. He knows it’s not easy being the wife of a doctor, and asks her never to question the love he has for her. Steffy doesn’t… and after the way he stood up for her and their family today, “That means the world to me. I love you.” Finn replies, “I love you.”
Alone at Forrester, Hope flashes through her encounters with Finn. She recalls Brooke warning her that things could happen even if she didn’t intend it to. “A perfectly innocent moment could ignite. Just be careful, very careful, where Finn’s concerned.”
