In the Square, Chanel hangs a help-wanted sign in Sweet Bits’ window. She answers a call from Johnny, who would love to help her reopen. She appreciates it but quips that unless he can pipe frosting on cupcakes, he should just let her do her thing. A desperate Theresa approaches. She needs a wedding cake… today. Chanel suggests she share the cake she already made for Xander and Sarah, but Theresa hates the flavor. Chanel will see what she can do.
Johnny finds EJ drinking alone in the DiMera living room. EJ tells him Nicole’s suing him for divorce. Johnny calls it inevitable after what he did. EJ assumes Johnny is furious with him as well. Johnny feels horrible for Nicole and Eric. Plus, he thought he had a little brother. He was looking forward to them raising their babies together, but none of that will happen now.
Nicole comes to Eric’s room above the Pub. She checks on Jude in his stroller, noting she stayed at the Salem Inn last night. She adds that she served EJ divorce papers. “We’re done.”
Holly startles Tate at the Horton cabin as he dances while wearing headphones. She delivers a Buddy’s burger, and they discuss how he is hiding out at the cabin. As long as they’re careful, no one will ever know. Later, as they canoodle on the couch, Holly tells him about Jude being Eric’s son and how glad she is to be away from all the drama for a little while. But now that they’re finally alone, what should they do? She locks eyes with him. Tate awkwardly jumps up and grabs a board game.
Brady comes to the Kiriakis mansion looking for Maggie, but Alex says she’s out on last-minute wedding errands. Brady assumes he’s talking about Xander and Sarah’s wedding, but Alex corrects him. “Theresa and I are getting married tonight, too.” Brady’s stunned. Alex explains that Maggie thought it might bring the family together. That said, he’ll understand if Brady wants to bow out of coming. Brady states it’d be best after assuming Theresa was only marrying him for his money. However, he now knows that’s not true. Alex wonders if there’s another reason he doesn’t want to come then. After flashing back to his night with Theresa, Brady says he’d love to be there. Alex is thrilled, but Brady appears less so.
Sophia approaches Theresa in the Square to talk about Tate and Holly. Theresa apologizes for how Tate treated her, but Sophia blames Holly since she was supposed to be her BFF. Theresa assures her they’ll be far away from each other since Tate is at lacrosse camp in New York. Sophia flashes back to overhearing Holly and Tate planning their deception. She tells Theresa there’s something she should know. Chanel returns to tell Theresa she can make her wedding cake with a couple of modifications. Upon learning about the wedding, Sophia tells Theresa what she has to say can wait.
In the DiMera mansion, Johnny tells EJ there’s no justification for what he did. He’s disappointed and mad, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have EJ’s back the same way he’s always had his. “You’re my dad.” EJ apologizes for not being as supportive of Chanel’s pregnancy as Johnny needed him to be. He knows they’re looking to move out, but it would mean a great deal if they stayed there. Johnny agrees to stay longer, assuring his father he’ll never lose him. When Johnny mentions he wants to take Chanel to lunch, EJ calls him a good husband, which is something he didn’t learn from him. Johnny suggests EJ just hasn’t found the right person yet. He and Nicole just weren’t meant to be. Johnny suggests EJ sign the divorce papers and move on.
In Eric’s room, Nicole says they’ll have to figure out a custody arrangement unless he’s still planning on moving to Paris. Eric says he was leaving because it was too painful to be around Jude, but now, there’s no reason he can’t have his fresh start with Jude. He intently looks at Nicole and says, “And with you.” Nicole assumes EJ knew she never quite got over Eric, which is why he went to such extremes to hold on to their marriage. Eric asks if she knew that, too. “In my heart of hearts,” she says, “I did.”
Johnny meets Chanel in the Square, but she’s too busy to have lunch with him. She assures him she’s been eating, though, noting how sweet it is for him to check up on her. He asks if he’s smothering her. A little bit, she says, but she likes it.
At the cabin, Tate and Holly play The Game of Life and then trivia, which leads to questions about old movies. Tate wonders how she knows so many. She reluctantly brings up her old crush on Johnny, but calls it a stupid fantasy. “So, what am I?” Tate playfully asks. She calls him very real. She’s lucky she has him now. They kiss until Sophia knocks on the door. “You’re so busted!” she shouts through the door.
Theresa comes to the Kiriakis mansion with a garment bag. When she learns Brady considered not coming to the wedding, she assures him how much she wants him there. Alex hopes that after the wedding, they can all come together as family. Theresa does, too. Brady stares wistfully at her. When Alex steps away to take a call, Brady tensely turns to Theresa. “I didn’t know you were getting married today.” She shifts and looks around, admitting that she should have given him a heads-up. He assures her he’s happy for them and calls Alex a lucky guy. With a catch in her voice, she says she’s sorry things didn’t work out between them. He’ll always be special to her… he’s Tate’s dad. “Oh my God!” she exclaims. She can’t get married without her son. She needs Tate at her wedding.
In Eric’s room, Nicole says that if she had known Jude was theirs from the beginning and that Eric wanted her, she would have left EJ. Eyes welling, Eric admits he wanted the same thing she did. They move in close, but a knock on the door interrupts them. Eric opens to EJ. He assumed he’d find Nicole there. She snatches the divorce papers from his hand but discovers he didn’t sign them. EJ didn’t and doesn’t plan to. If they think he’ll let them take Jude and walk off into the sunset, they are sadly mistaken.
