Things are about to get messy on Days of Our Lives. Well, messier. EJ has refused to sign Nicole’s divorce papers and seems determined to keep her and Eric from happiness — or, as he put it at the end of Wednesday’s episode, letting them take Jude “and go wandering off into the sunset together.”
Clearly, Marlena taking EJ to task didn’t have the intended effect. But we can think of someone else who might want to give EJ a piece of her mind: Sami. While Marlena was taking EJ down a few pegs and telling him he needed to do some serious suffering, he admitted that part of his panic over losing Nicole stemmed from the pain of losing Sami.
That got us thinking that there’s never been a better time to bring Sami back. She could return to pick up where Marlena left off and really let her ex have it for keeping Eric’s son from him and refusing to just do the right thing by divorcing Nicole. Sami may have no love for her nemesis, but EJ continuing to make her brother’s life miserable has got to be infuriating.
That doesn’t mean she’ll get through to EJ, but if there’s anyone who doesn’t shy from giving him a piece of her mind, it’s Sami. And once that’s done, it might be time for her to stick around — for good this time.
With Nicole leaving, the show’s going to be down one powerful leading lady. Sami’s return could fill the void left by her exit. They may not like to hear it, but both ladies are scheming troublemakers and occasional heroines cut from a similar cloth, which is probably why they always butted heads so much.
Yes, Sami may have vowed never to set foot in Salem again, but she can always change her mind. Belle’s no longer around or sleeping with EJ and even Sami’s own dad has moved on from Lucas kidnapping her.
Granted, getting Alison Sweeney back full time at this point is likely never going to happen. So with all due respect to her and the character she made such a popular powerhouse, the show and the fans would have to be willing to recast.
She has too many ties to Salem to just let her fade out of existence or pop up here and there for a few weeks to blow through story. What are your thoughts? Would you be willing to welcome a recast Sami if it meant keeping her in town permanently?
