In her wheelchair, Sarah pushes herself into her bedroom, where Maggie awaits. Sarah assumes she’s there to help her get into bed, but she’s confident she can do it herself. Maggie nervously stands by as Sarah struggles. A distressed Holly enters and helps Maggie get Sarah into bed. Sarah quips about the bed being higher than before. Holly again blames herself for Sarah’s situation. Sarah reiterates that the only person to blame is the one who hit her.
Fiona comes to the Kiriakis living room, where Xander taps intently on his phone. She reaches for the liquor bottle but pours herself a water. As Fiona gushes over her accommodations, Justin joins them. Xander orders him to fire Brady as his client. Fiona winces as Xander rants about how Brady drove drunk and left Sarah to die. “Oh, for god’s sake, Xander,” she exclaims. “It was an accident.”
Upon hanging up with Belle in the townhouse, John tells Marlena their daughter offered to represent Brady. Paul also offered to come home, and his father wants to help as well. He appreciates all the support, but it’s tough having to call and update everyone. Marlena assures him they’ll get through this together. John tells her how much he appreciates her and leaves to visit Brady.
When Tate visits Brady in the interrogation room, Brady assumes he’s ashamed of him. Tate insists he’s not. But he does want to understand what happened to make him start drinking again. Brady makes it clear he’s not blaming Theresa, but he thought they might reunite, so watching her and Alex marry hit him hard. He went to the Pub, and it all went downhill from there. Tate might not be ashamed of him, but Brady’s ashamed of himself. It’s okay if Tate doesn’t want anything to do with him. After all the support Tate received from Brady, there’s no way he’s turning his back on him. Tate knows Sarah will forgive him in time. Everyone will understand that he has a disease and forgive him. “I already have,” Tate says. A guard opens the door to signal Tate’s visit is over.
In the Kiriakis mansion, Fiona defends Brady as being an alcoholic, just like she is. Justin adds that Brady is incredibly remorseful and is a member of the family. A family who didn’t write Xander off after he held Justin’s wife hostage in the garden shed. Xander snidely points out that Justin didn’t offer him legal services back then. Justin exclaims Xander is lucky he doesn’t need a lawyer now after almost choking Brady to death. If he gets another chance, Xander will break Brady’s bloody neck.
After Justin leaves, Fiona assures Xander she is one hundred percent on his side. Xander doesn’t know what they would have done without her. He invites her to come check on Sarah with him. Her smile fades as she follows him out.
Marlena welcomes Eric home when he comes to the penthouse. He reports Nicole and Jude are doing well in Paris, but there’s no way he was staying away while Brady’s in trouble. Marlena could never imagine that Brady would be so reckless and cruel as to drive drunk and leave Sarah on the side of the road. Eric is the last one to judge after what he did to Holly’s father.
In the interrogation room, John assures Brady that Justin will get him cleared of the charges. Brady plans to plead guilty and suffer the consequences. John reminds him there’s no proof that he hit Sarah, especially now that his car is gone. He urges Brady to think of his kids and let Justin put up a defense. Brady balks. Then, “Do it for me,” John begs.
Xander finds Sarah alone in her room, going over the to-do list for Victoria’s first birthday party. When Fiona waltzes in, Xander grumbles about how he failed to convince Justin to ditch Brady as a client. Tensing, Fiona suggests they focus on something positive, like Victoria’s birthday. She offers to help with the party and anything else for that matter. Sarah’s like a daughter to her now, and she doesn’t deserve this.
Downstairs, Justin asks Maggie how she feels about him representing Brady. Maggie supports it. She loves Brady, but she’s horrified by his actions. However, she understands the insidiousness of his disease. She could have helped him, but he never gave her the chance. It’s just so hard for her to believe he did this.
At the townhouse, Eric tells Marlena there’s not a day that goes by that he doesn’t think about Daniel. He and Nicole have been waiting for the right time to tell Holly. She was too young before, but they decided that Eric needed to tell her the truth before she found out from someone else.
When Tate meets Holly at the park bench, he relays how badly he feels for his father. “For him?” Holly sneers. “Why?” Isn’t jail what he deserves after what he did to her Aunt Sarah? Tate defends his father, which leads to a heated argument. Holly reminds Tate her father was killed by a drunk driver. He knows that was a terrible accident, but “You forgave Eric, right?” Holly recoils. “What do you mean?” Mortified, Tate’s mouth drops open.
In the interrogation room, John implores Brady not to plead guilty until they know all the facts. There might be a hell of a lot more to this story.
At the mansion, Fiona goes on about how terrible she feels about what happened. Staring off, Sarah has a blurry flashback of Fiona driving. Xander sits next to her on the bed. “What is it?” Sarah turns her stricken expression to Fiona.
