We probably shouldn’t be surprised to learn that a number of familiar faces were back in the Days of Our Lives studios recently to film. We are, after all, coming up on the show’s 60th anniversary, and that’s nothing to sneeze at.

Bo and Hope, we know, will be making their return in the coming year as Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell come back. Plus, there’s Alison Sweeney’s return, which was a bit of a shock since Sami left town vowing never to return!

But now, according to TV Insider we’re going to be getting a whole slew of returns next summer, including Matthew Ashford (Jack), Melissa Reeves (Jennifer), Charles Shaughnessy (Shane), Victoria Konefal (Ciara), Chandler Massey (Will), Christie Clark (Carrie), Leann Hunley (Anna) and Thaao Penghlis (Tony).

Not all the names are a complete surprise. Jack pops in from time to time — heck, he just helped Chad find “Abigail” — and Reeves is set to return for the show’s 15,000th episode. Likewise, Shane, Ciara and Will all stop by from time to time, though they haven’t stuck around for long in ages.

This, though, would be Clark’s first return as Carrie since 2019 — outside of her Beyond Salem run that is! And while Hunley’s status has been up in the air, viewers will probably remember Penghlis’ exit when he shared that he was pretty much done with daytime. It seemed, at the time, that we’d never get to see Tony again. But we’re thrilled to know we were wrong!

There’s no word from TV Insider about how long any of them will stick around or what will bring them back to town. But while a few names would make sense, it’s unlikely that it’ll be for a farewell to John just yet. It’s possible, but Drake Hogestyn just passed, and there’s no reason to rush through the raw emotions of everyone in the cast just yet to get to John’s goodbye. (We know, that’s odd to say since the show shoots eight months in advance, but the show needs time to prepare a proper farewell whenever it airs.)

Plus, it sounds like they’ll all be back for something joyful, as executive producer Ken Corday told TV Insider, “We always love it when members of our beloved family return to Salem. Fans are really going to enjoy what we have in store beginning this fall and well into next year.”

And all we can say is: We can’t wait!
