Galen Gering Welcomes Cherie Jimenez to DOOL
The Days of Our Lives star openly admits this concern was on his mind. “That was one of the things that was in the back of my mind,” he revealed. “First and foremost, I was like, ‘Oh, God. How do you move on from there?”
It’s because Galen’s relationship with Camilla was certainly one of his favorite elements or aspects of working with her. Moreover, their bond contributed to his experience on the show. Consequently, the prospect of starting fresh with someone new was daunting for Gering.
However, the Days actor is quite impressed by how smoothly Jimenez has walked into Gabi’s shoes. “Cherie has fit in. It was great because when she just got here, we sat and talked for hours.” Jimenez and Gering hit it off from day one about life, their journeys, and all that profound stuff.
He added, “So it was cool because we could hit the ground running, knowing there was an understanding and trust there.” Additionally, Galen praised Cherie, calling her a great actor, a great person, and super-fun to work with.
He thinks she has similarities and also distinct differences from Camila. Plus, Gering has taken the time to help Jimenez understand the backstory and key moments of Gabi’s character. He notes, “There were definitely some questions, and there will probably continue to be questions she’ll have.” The actor mentioned how Cherie asked about [Gabi’s daughter] Arianna and what that relationship was like. Then, she asked some other questions about our family situation and history.
“I think that my relationship with Cherie is different, but it’s also really cool,” shares Gering. In addition, the Days actor thinks their bond may evolve more into his one with Camila. However, that will depend on how the writers continue to write things for them. “They did a great job in casting Cherie, and I’m excited about what the future holds for the Hernandez family.”
