General Hospital Overhauls Writers – Anne Schoettle’s Return Sparks Major Soap Shakeup!
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the show has shaken up its writing team yet again, with a new addition. During the closing credits to the Thursday, September 5 episode of the soap, it was revealed that Anna Schoettle has joined the daytime drama as a new script editor.
The soap has suffered a ton of writing changes since the beginning of 2024.
Just last May, the daytime drama revealed that Patrick Mulcahey had left the show as co-head writer, a role he had alongside Elizabeth Korte since January of this year.
Currently, Korte and Chris Van Etten are co-head writers, and Cathy LePard is the associate head writer.
Schoettle’s name might look familiar to some fans, as she’s made a significant impact within daytime drama over the years.
She was the head writer for Days of Our Lives (DOOL) from January 1990-June 1991, and had writing roles on other soaps like, Guiding Light, The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B), The Young and the Restless (Y&R), Sunset Beach, and Port Charles, GH’s sister show.
With that being said, Anne’s career isn’t the only link she has to soaps.
Anne Schoettle happens to be married to David Shaughnessy, who has not only directed some shows for Days, Y&R, and B&B, but is also the brother of veteran daytime drama actor and former DOOL and GH star, Charles Shaughnessy (Day’s ex-Shane Donovan, GH’s ex-Victor Cassadine).
General Hospital spoilers imply that things may continue to switch up in the land of Port Charles, as fans have noticed an imprint within each of the show’s new writing teams.
With characters changing jobs, partners, and personas, here hoping the show’s writing team settles in a bi where changes are concerned.
Will this be the GH’s last edition for their writing team? Only time will tell!
