In his office, Brennan pours himself and Carly a drink as they wait for word on Lucky. He brings up Cates’ murder, forcing Carly to admit she’s Sonny’s alibi. However, she is adamant that they are not reconciling. When Carly’s resolved legal troubles come up, she notes someone must really like her to make them go away. Brennan smirks.
When Molly rushes to the interrogation room to see her mother, Alexis blames Ric for making her look as suspicious as possible. Molly counters that it’s Kristina’s fault she’s in this mess, not her father’s. Molly urges Alexis to stop sacrificing herself for Kristina and tell the cops where she got the gun. Alexis thinks there are far more likely suspects in Cates’ murder, but Molly retorts they are better at covering their tracks. Molly grows more frustrated and storms out.
Willow shows up for her first day back at the hospital. Elizabeth assigns her to Lulu’s floor and they discuss Lucky hopefully coming home for his sister. Elizabeth gets defensive about her ex and stalks away.
After Trina welcomes Ava back to the gallery, Ava rants about trusting Cates, who forced her to lie about Kristina attacking her. She doesn’t have a lawyer yet, but Nina’s working on it. When Trina notes she and Joss aren’t exactly agreeing these days, Ava hopes Trina doesn’t feel she is paying a price for their friendship. Trina assures her their friendship hasn’t cost her anything. She feels terrible for the Davis family’s grief, but she knows they just need someone to blame and that Ava is innocent.
At the Metro Court, Nina tries to convince Ric to represent Ava. It’d be a great way to stick it to Sonny. As tempting as that sounds, Ric won’t risk losing Molly by representing Ava. Nina coyly says she understands and leaves. Ric stares off pensively.
Anna visits Isaiah in his hospital room, sure he isn’t telling the whole story about Sidwell. He claims Sidwell kidnapped him for his remarkable medical skills. Anna is dubious, but he sticks to his story. When she mentions he wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for Jordan, he says he’d like to thank the man who saved him. Jordan walks in.
After Anna leaves and Isaiah picks his jaw off the floor, he chuckles over assuming Jordan was a man. Something he’d never do had he seen her before now. However, he wonders why she saved him. She assumed he had family who would be looking for him. He avoids giving her answers on that topic. He doesn’t have anything to hide, but there are things he’d rather not revisit.
As Carly and Brennan continue their flirtatious banter, Anna comes to the office seeking information about Sidwell. Brennan gets a call about Sidwell’s compound, which appears to be abandoned. They just missed him and Lucky. When Brennan refuses Anna’s request for more help in finding Lucky, she vows to find him herself. After she storms out, Carly begs Brennan. She can’t lose Lulu. “Haven’t you already lost her?” he says.
As Willow checks in on Lulu, the nurse talks to her comatose patient about her life, including her feelings for Drew. She swears she’s going to get over them. “Willow?” a voice softly says. Willow whips around to Elizabeth, who stands in the doorway.
Willow follows Elizabeth to the nurses’ station. Liz is happy to hear Willow talking to comatose patients and apologizes for snapping earlier about Lucky. She’s a big reason he left town, and now he barely has a relationship with his son. She fears Lucky will return only to leave again, crushing Aiden.
Nina comes to the gallery, and Ava tells her how appreciative she is to have her in her corner. Nina regrets to tell her Ric won’t represent her. Ava breezily says there are a lot of lawyers in the world, and she can afford the very best. Nina is surprised by her positive outlook. After wasting so much time scheming, Ava is now focusing on the positive, namely, having friends like Trina and Nina on her side.
Molly rushes up to Ric’s table at the Metro Court, demanding to know why he reported Alexis. He claims he was just doing his duty. Molly vents about Alexis likely covering for Kristina. Ric notes Ava changed her story about Kristina attacking her because Cates pressured her into making a false statement. Does that change Molly’s mind about Kristina’s guilt in the fall? Tearing up, Molly says no matter what happened in the hotel room, if Kristina hadn’t gone there, her baby would still be alive. He suggests it was just a terrible accident. The evidence says otherwise, Molly retorts. She just needs to know who is responsible for her baby’s death and for them to pay.
As Nina offers to compile a list of the best lawyers in New York for Ava, Ric enters the gallery. Molly needs answers, so he’ll represent Ava. However, if she’s lying, he will bury her. Ava accepts his terms because she’s innocent.
Diane comes to the interrogation room and tells Alexis she’s free to go, but it’s a temporary reprieve considering the evidence against her. Diane would do anything for Alexis, but if she is charged with John Cates’ murder, she can’t be her lawyer. In the squad room, Molly approaches Dex at the desk. She tells him Kristina has no alibi and a motive to kill Cates.
In Brennan’s office, Carly declares that as long as Lulu is breathing, she won’t give up on her. Brennan agrees to continue the search for Lucky, but even if he finds him, who would she send in to rescue him? She pointedly stares.
Anna rushes back to Isaiah’s room as he banters with Jordan. She urgently asks if Isaiah knows where Sidwell would take Lucky. He doesn’t. “How will we find Lucky now?”
