General Hospital’s Ron Hale Dies at 78, Original Mike Corbin Actor Mourned by Cast and Fans

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s some sad news to report about the death of Ron Hale, who played the original Mike Corbin from 1995 to 2010. Although Max Gail eventually took over the role, Hale made his mark on Port Charles during his own run as Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) father.

Following an announcement from Hale’s family about his demise at the age of 78, the show made a statement addressing the loss on social media. Let’s look at what they shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The entire General Hospital Family is saddened to hear of Ron Hale’s passing. We would like to extend our condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. He was an incredible actor and an unforgettable colleague. May he rest in peace.”

Hale brought plenty of talent to the table during his stint on GH, but fans may also remember him from his time playing Dr. Roger Coleridge on Ryan’s Hope. The former soap star also appeared on the GH spinoff called Port Charles, so he’ll definitely be missed.

As for Hale’s work outside of the world of daytime dramas, he was featured on Matlock, MacGyver, Trial by Jury, The Ghost and the Whale along with many other films and television shows over the years.

After Billy Warlock (ex-AJ Quartermaine and Frankie Brady on Days of Our Lives) spoke out about the passing of Ron Hale, GH cast members like Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins and ex-Ryan Chamberlain) and Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) reflected what a great guy he was through X posts, too.

Fan tributes have been pouring in on social media as viewers share their favorite Mike Corbin moments and reflect on the intensity Hale brought to his scenes with Sonny in those days.

Hale will live on through all the GH memories and his incredible performances, but this is still a tough blow. Our hearts go out to Hale’s loved ones as they grieve this loss.
